Actually, the mainstream trend is towards a few C-like languages with highly developed IDEs, like Visual Studio and Eclipse, which facilitate working with massive libraries and frameworks. The language is not as significant as the database. It is not entirely clear how the BASICS, PASCALs & FORTRANs of this world fit into the new landscape.

A lot of people use OxygenBasic, I think.  This forum is not duty for them.
