Hi Mike,

I voted Brexit because the EU is not a democracy. It has hidden agendas.

I voted Brexit ...

Thanks for responding, Charles, even if that wouldn't be my choice under similar circumstances. :)

Don't you have an uneasy feeling like you would be depriving the younger Brits (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/young-voters-wanted-brexit-least-8271517) of their country and their future?

Don't you have yet another uneasy feeling like the rednecks have overruled an enlightened judgment (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36612916) of this country's intellectuals?

Hi Mike,

It is the institution we are leaving, not Europe. If the EU could revert to the EEC - before the Maastricht treaty, that would be a step in the right direction.

And we do expect some turbulence in the short term. The EU will want to punish us, to discourage other member states from following our lead.

In the EU, everything is massively regulated, which is good for large corporates with their lobbyists, but not for smaller businesses.

you think the petition to redo the referendum will work?
my opinion is that it was unavoidable for the EU to eventually fall apart.

P.S. I read post by pro EU people demeaning them that voted for Brexit, but you two are the most sensible people I have met online.

I think the idea of EU is (should be) more than a community of economical interests e.g.:

https://www.reference.com/history/main-purpose-european-union-b9df9dac0f3d76c3# (https://www.reference.com/history/main-purpose-european-union-b9df9dac0f3d76c3#)

Standards, rules or regulation did exist and will exist no matter if they happen nationally or internationally. I did not like the Euro when it was introduced and I still divide the values by 1.95 to compare prices with the DMark, but I also realized the advantages of the Euro.

Much could be said. Maybe the tasks and responsibilities of the EU must be discussed. Maybe a lot of mistakes occured in the past. Nevertheless I think the EU could be a mean for international understanding, though I see that in my own country this awareness seems to vanish also. For me the institution EU is a chance to stay in peace and to increase the team play between the nations in Europe. But EU without Great Britain? Impossible. It would be a big step backwards.

Without regard to Charles' choice on BREXIT which is of course his exclusive prerogative, but with regard to his motivation he's vocalised as below:

I find the following video sketch amusing and, at the same time, instructive enough to stress once again how much the EU has in fact offered to the British people that they don't probably realise in their everyday life and would take for granted:
