I've just been playing with Google Docs.

This is a fun way to communicate and work collaboratively :)

I don't know if you guys remember that really neat program by Microsoft that came for free, NetMeeting. It allowed you to video conference and draw and work on documents in real time collaboration. For some reason they just let that die. I used to use it a lot, nothing has quite matched, for free at least.

It will be nice if Google Talk allowed collaborative document work too.

We are about to lose Google-Wave. It becomes read-only in January. So it would be a good time to see what alternatives there are.

I found having a conference by text is quite hard work but very productive.

A friend of mine (web developer) is using Google's spreadsheet online to have his client enter in data and then uses the Google API to read the entered data and populate the client's website with reports and analysis. Saves time not having to do the data entry forms on the client site.

I've already tried some alternative to Google Wave but so far nothing compares.
Maybe shareflow is something close but its "backstage" is not clear to me

I think we could work quite effectively with Google docs. - depends how frequently it updates. I like the ability to share drawings and diagrams.

Yes, it seems a very convenient way.
If Google will move to Google Docs some of the great experience born with Google Waves it will be a great system.

I'm experimenting too with Google Docs.
I've created a new document and organized docs into collections so they can be quickly and easily shared and found.

We need to test if it will be possible to amen documents simultaneously

GoogleWave is still read/write. They have not pulled the plug yet :)
