Title: New Server
Post by: JRS on September 25, 2013, 06:45:54 PM
I have moved to a new server with a faster box, current 64 bit OS and current Plesk. Let Charles or I know if you notice anything strange.

John

P.S.

We shouldn't have lost any current posts in the migration but if so, I apologize.

Permigration would be a better description for this action. (Migration) :D

Sorry it wasn't as dramatic as the PowerBASIC server move.  :-* (only 8 sites migrated + 2 DNS servers and off line < 5 min.)

FYI There is a big difference between moving a site verbatim to a new server and migrating existing applications and data with a major OS level upgrade.

I am soothsayer, and I say there is Christmas in a few days.
I hope Charles Pegge is then  back,  for a nice mess.

Stars travelling need really much time.  :D

PowerBASIC Friends,

It's over! I never had any intentions of allowing anyone other than me to profit from PowerBASIC products.

Turn off the damn website and find something else to use. You guys are just being silly.

Guess where I'm at? Hint: No virgins in sight.

It's the best announcement from the grave I was able to come up with. (photo is of the world's ugliest fish) Since no one is talking at PB, I thought I would give Bob his last audience here on O2.

This could be a way to get PB off the ground. It has always worked in the past.

We can all take comfort in the fact PB support does exist.

The server used to host this site is at a data center staffed by professionals that know how to keep sites up. I have been a customer of their's for over 10 years.

PowerBASIC has always been run off a home Verizon internet connection because Bob was to too cheap to pay for hosting. (help, advertising, ...)

I see no reason to keep announcing PowerBASIC (and its author) is dead. If the people I once thought of as friends still believe that PB is a viable solution then I no longer trust their judgment or will listen to their advice.

Peter,

There are times when it isn't worth the effort to try to explain. PB is gone and it's time to think about BASIC and it's future. Charles and friends welcome the PowerBASIC users if they can get by the shock of their losses and willing to start again.
