It's a shame this thread went silent. There is a lot of talent on the FreeBASIC forum looking for a good reason to contribute. If I were you Charles, I would try to nudge these guys over to the O2 way of thinking.

I think that John, and correct me if I am wrong, but it would benefit BASIC to take all of these talented language makers and get them together instead of being fragmented and taking years to put together a new BASIon their own. To collaborate and work as a team, first it is fun to have talented people to work with and with similar passion.

There is a degree of Darwinian competition in this field, fortunately less so now that compilers are mostly cashless and many are also open source. New ideas can flow more freely.

You mean something like a UNITED BASIC...heh idea is ok BUT
we are all know that will never heapend,right?
