Hi Mike,

It is the institution we are leaving, not Europe. If the EU could revert to the EEC - before the Maastricht treaty, that would be a step in the right direction.

And we do expect some turbulence in the short term. The EU will want to punish us, to discourage other member states from following our lead.

In the EU, everything is massively regulated, which is good for large corporates with their lobbyists, but not for smaller businesses.

my opinion is that it was unavoidable for the EU to eventually fall apart.

I think the idea of EU is (should be) more than a community of economical interests e.g.:

Standards, rules or regulation did exist and will exist no matter if they happen nationally or internationally. I did not like the Euro when it was introduced and I still divide the values by 1.95 to compare prices with the DMark, but I also realized the advantages of the Euro.

Much could be said. Maybe the tasks and responsibilities of the EU must be discussed. Maybe a lot of mistakes occured in the past. Nevertheless I think the EU could be a mean for international understanding, though I see that in my own country this awareness seems to vanish also. For me the institution EU is a chance to stay in peace and to increase the team play between the nations in Europe. But EU without Great Britain? Impossible. It would be a big step backwards.
