I am very sorry to inform you that Mike's health is in a very critical state.
He has been put in major sedation.
His doctor does not have a positive forecast.

Nothing else to do than hope and pray for now...

Health can be a formidable foe if you depend on others to steer.

I have been battling kidney failure for the last 2 years and finally have the upper hand and no longer living with a catheter.

Mike has never given up easy and if anyone can pull himself out of the corner it's Mike.

Mike has been dealing with serious health issues for some time. He just didn't let on to others in forums. Most of us BASIC folk are getting up there in age and the body wears out. How life works.

Yep, that is what i had in mind when i said to Brian that he should not invest too much of his time on a dying market, especially if he needs to earn a living from his work.

My clients are looking for affordable solutions they needed yesterday. They could care less if it's written in BASIC or Brainfuck. BASIC doesn't need to be main stream among small business which makes up most of the economy.

 We are used to that, but i dont see that as normal. Hopefully he can recover soon...

 Patrice, i personally dont believe a compiler dies only when the author/developer of the compiler dies. I believe it can als die when it's supporters slowly become less and less... to few to make it affordable for the developer of the language. Sometimes I wish i was millionare. I dont want to get money from it, i just would like to make it available to everyone.

 Also, do you think Mike's health issue is too personal to share whats going on with him?

About Mike,

He had first a heart attack, then abdominal surgery, and it is also suspected that he made a brain stroke during the last week, while he was already in the hospital (unconscious).

The forecast is bad, he's not getting better and now it is not clear whether consciousness is still there.

I am speechless, and can just cry…

But i know my friend would rather die, than become a vegetable.

I battle with this question daily. When the best of the best said there was no hope to save my daughter from dying from H1N1, I proved them wrong and found a way to save her. She ended up a wheelchair bound quadriplegic that requires everything be done for her. Did I make the right choice? I'm still waiting for that answer from her.
